What causes it?

The most common causes of elbow swelling are bursitis, pyogenic skin infection, and fracture of the arm. Other possible causes, such as insect bite, are more rare.

Patients with elbow swelling often receive radiographic imaging procedure, plain x-ray, application of splint, incision and drainage, culture wound, arthrocentesis, orthopedic casting and injections and aspirations of muscles; tendons; bursa; joints and soft tissue .

Common Medications

The most commonly prescribed drugs for patients with elbow swelling include clindamycin, cefadroxil, povidone iodine topical (betadine), indomethacin, clidinium (librax), aspirin / caffeine, pramoxine topical, leflunomide (arava), dicloxacillin, colesevelam (welchol), ketoprofen, cefepime and trimethoprim .

Who is at risk?

Groups of people at highest risk for elbow swelling include sex == male age 5-14 years. On the other hand, age < 1 years almost never get elbow swelling.
